what’s up with that smiley thing? is it a part of the creative commons image that only shows on that specific browser? it’s not on the bottom of any other page i can see on the mac using firefox.
i’m not paranoid or anything — i’d just like an explanation and google isn’t coughing it up.
any ideas?

It’s the way WordPress.com gather stats! Look at the image properties (it’s an image, not a symbol)
well done, zim! but why does it only show up in mac firefox? it’s not in the page source of my page in safari.
ah…mystery solved. it doesn’t show up for me when i am logged in, because the wordpress stats don’t count my page views. when i log out of the site and view it in safari, it’s there.

Yeah I remember finding that smiley face on my blogs as well. I didn’t realize WordPress used it to track users though. At least it’s small and not that obtrusive.
